Making do and saving appears to be a thing of the past, like back when I was a kid. You may even recall that you were instructed as a kid not to waste food and other items. One thing that likely happened in your home as it did mine was that if I didn’t want to eat my dinner, the same food was served to me the next night. The fact that children are not always made to finish their dinner is bad enough, but when the food ends up in the garbage it is even worse.

One of the things that is becoming popular and helping individuals to avoid wasting things is green living. When it concerns green living, you will discover that people ordinarily think it is simply about renewable energy, but it affects a lot more than that. Preserving things and conserving energy are merely a couple of things that you can pass on to your kids. In fact, if you were to start teaching your children about green living and the effect that they can have on the planet, you will be doing them a favor. When your kids know how to live green as a child, it is ordinarily something that they will end up carrying with them into adulthood.

Green living can be taught to your young ones using various ways and different techniques. A lot of children have never been on public transport, yet it is a very good way to travel instead of always using a car. Teaching your children to throw fruit and vegetable peels into a compost bin, will make them aware of the upsides of not wasting. When most kids are younger you will find that helping you is something that they really want to do, and you should allow them to help you, especially when it comes to recycling. If you put the recycling bin several feet away from where you are standing, you and your kids can play a game about who can get the most cans in the bin.

If you really want to make these things stick with your children, try to make the learning about green living fun.
